Job overview:
With a focus on safety, reliability and efficiency you will work as part of a team responsible for supporting office staff and maintaining IT equipment in Gdynia, as well as supporting vessels with their IT needs.

As part of the Navigator Gas IT team, you will work alongside the Vessel IT Engineer as a team of two in Gdynia and will play a vital role as part of a wider IT team, that support the business from other locations. The Associate Vessel IT Engineer position reports to the Group Vessel IT Manager.

The successful candidate will have a proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn. You must be able to balance and prioritize your support cases and projects as well as have a collaborative nature to form a close working relationship with others.
Informal and formal on-the-job training will be available.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Desktop and remote support - user applications, workstations, mobile phones and printers.
  • Starters and Leavers – requirements gathering, equipment check out and check-in, device setup and configuration, access enabling and disabling.
  • Perform root cause analysis in IT support cases, walk the end user through the problem-solving process and keep detailed notes for escalating unresolved issues.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Active Directory, to support user accounts and access.
  • Meeting room support – troubleshooting and supporting A/V equipment.
  • Weekly and monthly IT security patching and antivirus checks.
  • Contribute to the support of IT and Communications across the fleet. Including service case support, software, and hardware upgrades.
  • Assist the Vessel IT Engineer and Group Vessel IT Manager with supporting servers and delivering projects.
  • Keep the IT inventory up to date.
  • Collaborate with the wider Service Desk team.
 
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience working in an IT support role, or a qualification/certification related to the IT field. A combination of the two would be desirable.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows networking, firewalls, printing, and file shares.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Experience using ITSM and remote access tools.
 
Behaviours and Capabilities:
  • Willing to travel occasionally (up to 4 times per year).
  • Fluent/ particularly good in English (both verbal and written). 
  • Shows initiative, doesn’t always wait to be told and actively looks to help and improve the work environment.
  • Attention to detail and diligence in recording details.
 
Nice to have: 
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies such as Azure, IaaS and SaaS.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and Debian/Ubuntu Linux.
  • Knowledge of network security, antivirus, DNS security, and VPNs.
  • Experience using RMM and endpoint security management applications.
  • A maritime-related IT background would be desirable but not mandatory.
