Duties and responsibilities

Conduct structural calculations using empirical formulas from Classification Regulations and first principles for ship design.
Conduct finite element analysis and beam analysis for the structural design of ships, displaying advanced knowledge.
Prepare structural drawing packages for submission to Classification Societies.
Perform specialized structural tasks as needed to support the project’s needs.
Preparing and verifying weight estimates.
Review deliverables created by technical staff and report any technical issues found.
Coordinating with all engineering disciplines to ensure optimum, functional, and sustainable vessel design.
Supporting and preparing project plans, schedules, and hours estimates for the Structural design scope.
Overseeing the resolution of Classification and Client comments related to the Structural design scope.
Mentor and coach staff at lower position levels.
Leadership role in a team working environment, both intra-office and inter-office.
Lead functional groups within the company (i.e., department functional areas, quality assurance, etc.).
Propose modifications to existing policies, primarily within the discipline or assigned functional group.
Participating in teamworking groups within the company. In addition to performing discrete technical tasks within larger projects, an employee may perform the role of Project Manager.

Qualifications

Will hold a recognized MSc/BSc degree or equivalent in a related engineering field.
Will typically have 10 – 15 years of post-graduation experience in industry.
Will possess working experience in structural engineering in ship design.
Overall competency would be considered as Advanced in their discipline.
Strong understanding of Ships Structure.
Experience working with IACS Classification Society Rules.
Has an advanced working knowledge of primary computer software programs necessary to complete Position and Role objectives (i.e. MS Office products, AutoCAD, Rhino, etc.).
Experience with Classification Society software (e.g., DNV Nauticus Hull, LR Rules Calc).
Experience with Finite Element software (e.g., GeniE, FEMAP and/or ANSYS) is an asset.
Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Permanent residence in Poland.
