Reuters is seeking candidates who can speak fluent English and Italian to join its real-time news operations in Gdansk, Poland.

The translator will work in a fast-paced, international environment and get to translate articles from all over the world, write headlines and short stories about companies and economic indicators from one of Europe’s biggest economies, produce multimedia packages and become part of Reuters's global network.

Trading desks, hedge funds and asset managers at major multinational banks use subscription-based Eikon terminal to get fast & accurate information to make investment decisions. Your stories for Reuters will also be seen by our media clients. Reuters news reaches one billion people every day.

About the Role
As our Italian Speaking News Translator, you will:
  • Translate market reports, general, political and company news from English into Italian;
  • Write headlines and news summaries accurately, quickly and with high standards of credibility, in accordance with Thomson Reuters Trust Principles;
  • Search through approved sources to grasp and translate news;
  • Identify market-moving figures and comments in sources such as electronic news releases and conferences calls;
  • Select and package news stories with relevant pictures, videos and graphics.

About You
To be our Italian Speaking News Translator, you will have:
  • Fluency in English and Italian
  • Strong translation skills
  • Ability to write with speed, clarity, accuracy and freedom from bias
  • A sound command of grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Comfort with handling financial data and facts accurately and quickly
  • Knowledge of corporate activity, stock markets and financial vocabulary, or an ability to gain such knowledge quickly
  • An ability to work under time pressure
  • Willingness to work on different shifts
