We are looking for a driven Supplier Quality Development Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future, with a focus on Li-Ion, or other chemistries of cells (pouch / prismatic / cylindrical).
About the job
You will oversee production process development/improvement and quality management for new and existing suppliers, which includes leading and coordinating APQP and PPAP activities with suppliers, early quality assurance of suppliers, developing and ensuring the application of supplier quality toolbox, assessing and auditing suppliers as well as continuous quality reviews and problem-solving to ensure a flawless transition into our manufacturing and supply of our products.
The Supplier Quality Development Engineer need to have experience in supplier quality management, especially in developing suppliers during the industrialization phase as well as the experience within mentioned commodity. Knowledge in the cells production process and supplier quality development tools is required.
You will play an important role to lead and coordinate quality activities with the suppliers and have a deep understanding of working and cooperating cross-functionally in a multicultural environment. You will work not only with Northvolt supply chain, but also engineering and design, R&D, the suppliers and many other teams inside and outside of Northvolt.

The role is a part of our passionate SQDE team based across both Stockholm, Sweden (head office) and Gdansk, Poland (NV manufacturing site). We are continuously building a team of experienced Supplier Quality Development Engineers with an industry background. By joining us, you will be a key player in ramping up a worldwide supplier base and contributing to building one of the first large scale European battery factories. You will be based in Gdansk, where some team members already are having their office space.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Execute supplier audits, specifically QMS and Process Audits
- Advise category managers on nomination strategies based on the quality performance
- Support the cross functional NV team and oversee suppliers APQP process and successful PPAP completion
- Ensure all quality requirements are collated from all parts of Northvolt, communicated to suppliers and implemented at their side in an effective way
- Support supplier nonconformity management and escalation process
We believe that you have:
- A degree MSc or MBA/Relevant University Degree in Material/Chemical/Production Process Engineering/ Quality Management
- 5+ years working experience in Supplier Quality in automotive or other high-volume industries in relevant commodity
- Willingness to travel to supplier locations on a regular basis (60% - 80% Travel)
- Excellent English written and oral skills
- Quality management systems knowledge, e.g.: IATF 16949:2016, ISO 9001:2015
- Familiar with APQP, PPAP (PFD, PFMEA, CP, MSA, SPC & others) and problem-solving methodology
- Track record of successful quality improvements at suppliers
- Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
- Fluency in other languages (Swedish, Polish)
- Experience from a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management in an international environment.
