Main responsibilities:
  • Support the sale departments in new buildings and other studies regarding of alternative fuel systems and newest market’s trends in decarbonization and electrification of marine industry
  • Preparation of feasibility studies and other engineering documents which will follow general international standards and Wärtsilä guidelines in terms of content, quality and functionality
  • Perform evaluation of the ship’s design construction development based on alternative fuels regulations and Wärtsilä decarbonisation strategy
  • Be able to carry out design work and provide technical information, in order to prepare documentation for sales projects
  • Actively involved in trainings and application of the new market trends of alternative fuels and marine electrification
  • Be open for a new challenges, especially related to decarbonization and electrification of marine industry
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in shipbuilding or ocean engineering
  • Ship arrangements and ship structural design experience
  • Willingness to learn and a proactive attitude toward professional development
  • Strong passion for structural and shipbuilding technology and a desire to make a significant impact in the marine industry
  • Experience in the marine industry
  • Ability to take active action in preparation of feasibility studies and other structural engineering tasks
  • Ability to handle few projects simultaneously, work independently and collaborate with a multi-discipline and international team
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment
  • Good skills in MS Office package
  • Good skills in English language and with marine and technical vocabulary
  • Experience with 2D CAD software
Skills might be an additional asset:
  • Knowledge of classification societies rules and other maritime requirements for alternative fuels and new market trends in marine industry in relation to ship construction
  • Experience with 2D/3D software related to structural ship design process
  • Be able to make some very simple scripts

We are looking for a Senior Shipbuilding Design Engineer for our Marine Engineering team.

The location for the position is Gdynia, Poland.

The Integrated Systems & Solutions function is responsible for the development of integrated propulsion solutions with a strong focus on supporting Marine Power newbuild sales or retrofits with business units and customers to develop competitive, high quality and functional solutions to drive forward the decarbonization of the maritime industry. The team plays an important role in executing the Marine Power strategy with a key focus on developing customer value and decarbonization.
